You Only Need One Hero to Change the World—But What If You Had 60?

The world is full of inspiring, fearless women. You have changed the course of history. They ruled kingdoms (and overthrew them). They started global movements to save the planet and humanity. They invented the computer algorithm, the medical syringe, the liferaft, and the fire escape. You understand what it is about.

It is more than likely that you know any of these women and that she changed your life in more ways than one.

These women are everywhere and have stories to tell.

On October 11th, Hootsuite will host World Woman Hour, a global digital celebration that highlights inspiring stories from women in all walks of life.

Under the direction of the World Woman Foundation, the socially activated movement wants to look after a million women by 2030 and show inspiring stories by 60 women that are told in 60 seconds – together in a powerful 60-minute film.

To celebrate International Girls’ Day, the #ShesMyHero Social First campaign aims to inspire a million girls to find positive role models to follow their hearts and ambitions by 2030.

The goal is the persistent gender gap

Despite the advances made in recent years, women around the world still face many barriers, particularly with regard to global gender differences. According to Hootsuite’s Digital 2020 report, women make up 45% of global social media users, while their male counterparts make up 55%. Similarly, women have a global literacy rate of 83% compared to a literacy rate of 90% for men.
