As of September 2020, Rackspace had the most reliable hosting company site. The top seven hosting company websites responded to all Netcraft queries in September and were disconnected based on average connection time. Rackspace offers managed dedicated and cloud hosting solutions and was featured in the top 10 seven times in 2020.

The second to fourth place is occupied by Webair, Hyve Managed Hosting and Swishmail. Webair and Swishmail have appeared in the top 10 seven times so far in 2020, and Hyve has appeared six times. Webair offers a range of services including cloud management solutions and disaster recovery. Hyve is a fully managed cloud hosting provider based in the UK offering colocation in 35 data centers in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. Swishmail has been in the top 10 for four consecutive months.

Dinahosting, Pair Networks and Multacom also responded to all requests from Netcraft in September.

Linux remains the most popular operating system of choice and is dominated as it is used by nine of the top 10. New York Internet (NYI) uses FreeBSD, which celebrated its 26th birthday in June.

Netcraft measures and provides the response times of around twenty websites from leading hosting providers. Performance measurements are taken at 15 minute intervals from various points on the Internet and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.

From the customer’s point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more relevant than outages on the websites of the hosting company, as this gives an indication of the reliability of the routing. For this reason, we rank our table according to the fewest failed requests rather than the shortest downtime. If the number of failed requests is the same, the sites are ranked by average connection times.
