Julie Mott’s IKEA redesign tips for Instagram-ready nurseries
from David | March 17, 2021
Organizing and furnishing the nursery is one of the best ways to show that we care. Her room is her personal space and it should be fun, inviting and comfortable for her. We always want to do the best for you, and decorating your bedroom is a good start! Of course, remodeling a bedroom on a budget can be a challenge.
That’s why IKEA expert Julie Mott gave us the following tips on creating the perfect room for your kids.
You can get inspiration for the nursery directly from IKEA. One trendy creation is a line of jungle adventure furniture, and you can get everything you need in one affordable space! The SLAKT bed has both a second bed and storage space under the frame. When you add in closets, organizational tools, and a fun jungle decor, you have the perfect design for your kid’s room.
Use Smagora for versatility
One thing to always keep in mind is versatility. You want to give your kids time to play and relax, but you also want to keep the space organized. IKEA’s Smagora line can help with that.
The shelf in particular allows you to change the design and adjust it to your custom size. They have all kinds of furniture, whether for babies or children, with lots of storage space, organization and even color for whatever you need.
A popular design concept that you can use to redesign the nursery is stacking boxes. These boxes just look like open shelves and come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors at IKEA. Combine them, stack them, turn them and you have lots of space and a great look.
You can use them to store and organize things like books, toys, games, and a lot more!
Storage benches can be a great solution in any room. In the children’s room they offer a place to sit and play as well as a place to organize and clean. Whether you need a cozy reading space or just a nice spot in the sun, a storage bench can be a great addition.
At IKEA, you can find these in all possible styles, colors and sizes.
Take care of your teen
As our children get older, we need to remember that their needs change. Your teenage or almost teenage boy will most likely not be satisfied with the look of their bedroom as a child. Plan a redesign of the room to make it an ideal space for teenagers.
Young people need a lot of storage space – both open and closed. They need places where they can show what everyone is supposed to see and other places where they can hide the rest of the mess. Give them enough shelves, cupboards and storage space. You might want to look at something like the RASSLA box with compartments and also check out the IKEA Stuvia line.
Every child needs a space that corresponds to their personality and characteristics. Don’t be afraid to make it personal and look to IKEA for solutions that best suit your child’s needs!
