What is Concrete Slabs?

Concrete slabs are used as a structural element in buildings. Concrete slabs are a dense, flat, horizontal concrete floor which is usually used for roofing or as a floor. In addition concrete slabs are employed to build the flooring of some homes as a foundation support foundation or directly on the soil.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete slabs can be a challenge If your knowledge and skills are not sufficient for the task. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors follows the strict procedure for installing concrete slabs.

In all of our concrete projects security is our first priority. Before any project is started we ensure that we have the right safety equipment. We are equipped with gloves, long sleeves, long pants and rubber boots. All these protections protect us from concrete splatters that could harm our health overall and well being.

We follow these steps also.

Step 1: Preparation for the Site

We all follow the same procedure regardless of the size project you are working on. Cleaning the area is the initial step in all of our projects. We tidy the area and dispose of garbage so we can begin on a clean slate. As part of the preparation we ensure that everything is on site. We plan the delivery of materials prior to the actual work. This gives us the opportunity to start and complete the work in time.

Step 2: Form Concrete Forms with Steel and Reinforce Concrete Slabs by Steel

Once the site is cleaned, we will install concrete forms with wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid blocks that keep concrete mix in place. Concrete forms force wet concrete to adopt a certain shape or design. To strengthen concrete, we use reinforced concrete with Rebar. This allows for stronger concrete surfaces.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

Concrete trucks are used to simplify the process. It also helps ensure concrete materials are mixed correctly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. However, most concrete mixers are needed in order to complete projects.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

When we're done mixing concrete, the concrete slab is then poured into the molds. It is important to be careful as we pour the concrete mix to avoid creating too many air pockets. Air pockets can form when there is not enough mortar available to fill in the spaces surrounding the aggregate. Concrete is poured by making sure it is evenly distributed across the shape.
